Signing with Santa was a huge success!  Kids and adults alike had so much fun skating, eating pizza, socializing with each other and most of all getting to visit with Santa.  Here are the Deaf Ed teachers from Barren Co., Warren Co. and Glasgow talking with Santa.  Our wish lists are long... so Santa we hope you can come through for us! :)

It was a great way to kick-off the Christmas season.  Thank you WKU-ASLO!

Regional Deaf Spelling Bee

There will be a Regional Deaf Spelling Bee for all Hard of Hearing and Deaf students, on December 8th in Bowling Green.  Our 3rd grade and 6th grade students will be representing our district in the spelling competition.  We have already begun to study and practice for the bee. The students are excited about spelling and about seeing other Deaf and Hard of hearing students.
To view the signs connected with the 3rd and 4th grade spelling bee, go to: http://www.schooltube.com/video/574914ea6913c2c2e51d/Spelling-Bee-Lists-34 to watch the video for the signs.

Mrs. Brooks' 3rd Grade RTI

Reading RTI-  Students are reviewing Main Idea within a passage.  To help students identify the main idea while reading, we have been focusing on making mental pictures while reading.  This seems to help students comprehend what they are reading and help them find the Main Idea.

Math RTI- Students are reviewing Subtraction.  We have discussed the many different ways to solve subtraction problems (counting up, counting backwards, using fingers, drawing dots, etc.) and are relating subtraction to real life by discussing shopping for Christmas presents.  Students are having fun relating subtraction to real life and are remembering the steps better.
